BACKGROUND
Sid Goodman is a licensed Professional Engineer with 50 years experience on the front line of engineering research, design, and development. For decades, he was and is an advocate of solutions to Climate Change problems.
WHAT CAUSED EL SID TO GO GREEN
He left Melnor Inc. to become Director of Engineering for Hendon Co. At Hendon,he was pressured to approve a design which violated the structural code. He made corrections to the design but the manufacturing manager refused to interrupt his schedule to implement the corrections, which was to merely adjust some jigs.No cost increase of the product was involved. Then, Sid was ordered to release a new design before it was fully checked. His boss wanted to capture the market and make corrections later, risking loss of life which could be caused by structural failure. El Sid checked the design anyway and made corrections. He resigned.
Melnor Inc. was glad to rehire him. Later, he met other engineers who were also ethically challenged.
After, he learned that what happened to them was happening on a grand scale in the nuclear industry.

A FEW OF MANY DECEPTIONS IN THIS AGE OF DISINFORMATION
* Solar Energy requires too much area to be practical
Fact: Hoover Dam needs a 250 sq. mile lake behind it to generate 2 gigawatts of electricity. A solar system using the same area
can generate 10 times more electricity. There is plenty of available desert area, plus there are rooftops all over.
* Nuclear power eliminates the burning of fossil fuel. Thus, it eliminates greenhouse gases causing global warming.
Fact: Enormous amounts of fossil fuel are guzzled in the many stages of the nuclear power fuel cycle. Every step of the way, losses
are sustained to the extent that the overall efficiency of this energy option is much lower than claimed. Testimony given under
oath was proven false. So-called safe routine radioactive emissions ARE a serious health hazard. A massive non-routine release
would be an enormous catastrophe. Nuclear power proliferates nuclear weapons around the world, it takes unending subsidies away from
cleaner, safer, less costly energy sources, it destroys civil liberties and it totally undermines national security. Rather than a solution
to climate change problems it roadblocks real solutions and presents extremely serous problems.
* The use of energy efficiency, conservation and alternative energy represents sacrifice
Fact: These options are real solutions to climate change problems. They will reduce inflation, ease world tensions, reduce oil imports,
reduce poisonous emissions from fossil fuels and nuclear power, put an army of people to work, and save Americans trillions of dollars in
fuel and electrical costs.
